Colombo, April 3 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka captivated attention as a top-tier travel destination at the ULT Travel Expo, held at the Parc Hotel Alvisse in Luxembourg. The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brussels, alongside leading Sri Lankan travel companies Jetwing Travels (Pvt) Ltd and Walkers Tours Limited, showcased the island nation’s unique offerings to an enthusiastic audience.
Luxembourg, which currently boasts the world's second-highest nominal GDP per capita, is a key market for outbound tourism. Luxembourgish travelers are known for their high average expenditure per trip, making them an attractive demographic for global destinations. This is further bolstered by their strong spending power and a keen interest in exploring new destinations.
Organized by the Union Luxembourgeoise du Tourisme (ULT), the ULT Travel Expo served as an exceptional platform for travelers to discover some of the world’s most extraordinary destinations. The event drew numerous visitors, many of whom were actively planning vacations for 2025 and 2026.
Sri Lanka’s exhibition at the event stood out with its vibrant displays, featuring images, videos, brochures, and maps that highlighted the country’s rich culture, stunning natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and immersive travel experiences. The booth presented Sri Lanka as an alluring long-haul destination, emphasizing its distinct appeal to the Luxembourg market.
To further enhance the experience, attendees were treated to a cup of authentic Ceylon tea and given a packet of Ceylon cinnamon as a souvenir, reflecting Sri Lanka’s renowned hospitality.
Sri Lanka’s successful participation in the ULT Travel Expo helped capture the attention of not only Luxembourg travelers but also those from neighboring countries such as Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and France. By engaging directly with an active and diverse audience, Sri Lanka reinforced its position as a premier travel destination in the European market.
